Some could say that pop culture is the new religion and our pop icons the new gods, thus our dissapointment when these gods fail, like they are bound to do because they are human.
pop culture is an effect of capitalism... and
like commonplace figurehead religions, those
icons are the set standard of our place in the
scheme of society (financially, socially, physically)....
and i don't think its because icons fail that we
become disappointed in the religion of culture...
its because religion itself is a failure method.
no true good comes from it
*naturally* i side more with omar's *semantical*
play on words because 'god' truly means what
he is getting at (at the root of the word)....
just because 'god' has been majorally coined
as spiritual... doesn't give it the monopoly
of the definition.
nationalism, capitalism, institutionalism, industry....
these are all fine cases of religion and the
appropriate 'gods' within -- including the
necessary aspects of any religion: a god, ritual,
consequence, ethics

I believe in a Higher Power...and that can change with the topography i happen to be in. "God" can be a mountain, a river, even my own self if it gets the job of "faith" done. I can't believe in anything higher if i don't belive in myself.
aye.... good enough for me
Heh! i knew it! Told you talking to yourself is a good thing. No, really.
